This book was written in the 7th century and is believed to be the first novel in the world. Written by Banabhatta in Sanskrit originally it has been translated by Padmini Rajappa. సంసకృత తెలుగు కావయాలను మూలంలో చదవేటంతటి తీరికా సామరథయం లేని నాబోటి వారి కోసమే అననటటు 'జయంతి పబలికేషనస' వారు సరళ వచనానువాదంలో కొనని కావయాలను అందిసతుననారు. సంసకృత కవి బాణభటటుని పరసిదధ కావయం 'కాదంబరి' కి 'రెంటాల గోపాలకృషణ' గారి వచానానువాదం చాలా చకకగా అమరింది. అనువాదంలో చదివితేనే ఇంత అందంగా అనిపిసతే ఇంక మూలంలో చదివితే ఎంత గొపపగా ఉంటుందో, మూలాననీ చదవాలి అనిపించేలా వారి రచన సాగింది. వారి ఉపకారానికి కృతజఞతలు!

Boy, were everybody DRAMATIC. I had to skip a few scenes because they just went on and on, PLS STAHP. But this was common for the style of that time, as Bhanabhatta is among those literati who wrote in prose rather than poetry, which was much more fashionable. Many sentences read like poetry.
