How do we reconcile our need to express our emotions with our desire to protect others? Far too often we find ourselves trapped in this dilemma of expression versus repression. We fear that by expressing our true feelings, we will hurt and alienate those close to us. But by repressing our emotions—even in the benevolent guise of “self-control”—we only risk hurting ourselve..more

I really like Osho's simple, conversational-style delivery, though he tends to talk in circles and repeat himself a lot.
He claims that depression is, for the most part, an epidemic in the Western world because of an insatiable drive to acquire more money. The more money we have, the more empty we feel thus perpetuating the depression spiral. He goes on to say that Easterner's tend to have less and be happy with that. In essence, when you have nothing, you can't be disappointed. I see this as a..more

Emotional Wellness is full of stereotypes and sweeping generalizations. If you can get past these annoyances, there are some helpful nuggets scattered here and there. On page 140 something so far. Not sure why I'm reading this.

For every good thought Osho's disciples incorporated into this book they included a load of absolute nonsense.
There are things that could benefit many people but surely they must be available without the pseudo-science and outright untruths in this work.
For example;
1.) Gravity is what causes aging and death, according to Osho, not those free radicals and cell degeneration, etc. etc., oh no, it's the gravity.
2.) According to Osho, man is the only creature that kills its own kind. A patently fals..more

this guy is either a certified lunatic or a very very wise man.. problem is you'll only find out if you take his advice. still, i'd put osho down as an essential read because every horizon needs expansion and there is nothing more true than that thinking has f---ed too many minds not to mention lives.
To this book I owe all my concepts about life, love and everything that surrounds me.
Not preaching Buddhism? More like preaching Buddhism plus free love. Interesting ideas though.
This is another great book by one of the best spiritual gurus. The part I loved is how at the end he explained the abc behavior model, the way he broke it down you could find the root of your behavior problem by looking at what target it, and its actually a good way to find the inner self.
ABC Model:It is based upon the principle that all behavior follows a set of consistent rules, and that methods can be developed for defining, observing, and measuring behaviors, and for designing effective inte..more

I like Osho. He rambles and speaks (writes) in a sometimes too circular and conversational style (this book IS a series of answers to specific questions). But, by keeping course in the ebb and flow, the reader can here and there find nuggets of wisdom that are sharp and crystalline - and which resonate & sparkle for days on end. Outside of his otherwise known infamy, I can tell by reading this book why he is such a controversial figure.
If you dare practice what this book says, you will change your view of living..Although I cannot know how willing someone is to do so, I can only promise you that at least it's worth reading it.Of course you must be prepared for it..Just reading it and not understanding what it is trying to tell you deeply in your heart, will only result in disliking the author for the 'creepy and crazy' things he says.Highly recommended.
I can read this book over and over again..its like a guide more than a book..i feel its so practical that managing your emotions actually feels simple reading it..here is a book which actually gives you solutions which we all can really follow if we really will to.Loved reading it.:)
The prose was hard to follow at times, I found that it was easier to comprehend read aloud. I almost put it down but stuck with it and it got easier.
The practices however I thought were interesting and helpful.
Not a place to start on the philosophy/ self-help shelf..

good exploration of the emotions and how to balance yourself out
Osho doesn't tell you to suppress your emotions as do other spiritual teachers. His approach is refreshing.

S=OSHO GREAT AS ALWAYS :)
Osho as usual is a person who always gives you the truth in your face!
While Osho attempts to tackle the emotions of Anger, Fear, and Jealousy, much is left to be desired. His teachings are often too vague to create constructive actions at times. However, I do think there is great material to start many future self-reflections on these topics which are a good thing nonetheless. The addition of exercises to bring awareness to these oft repressed emotions in our society a good language building block for the emotions of focus in this book. I would recommend to a frie..more

oh my goodness.. this book was incredible. My new favourite book! There were some days I would need to put it down to take time to digest the content. Every page I would say to my partner, 'come!! listen to this!!!' And now, upon completion, I feel like a different person. It has helped me to overcome jealousy and control; To become truly awake- the observer of myself, life, thoughts- aware detached, in flow and accepting; And more in control of my emotions and thoughts. I love this book!!! so..more
Aside from the annoying generalizations and stereotypes, I did take a few things away that I hope to carry with me. Learning to
- Express don’t repress (if you’re angry, be angry)
- Become an observer / watcher of your emotions
Although in essence simplistic, it’s really hard to do in the moment. Hoping to practice this alongside some of his meditations moving forward.

I didn't even finish this book. I have no problem with the wisdom - I just get annoyed by Indian guys who fashion themselves as spiritual gurus and talk *too* much.
He goes on and on, blah blah, with so many anecdotes and stories, and then on the last page of a chapter gets to the point. This book could be 30 pages long and say the same thing.

I am not amazed by a book as a whole but it shows some interesting, different standpoints on life.

“Existence already accepts you—that’s why you are here. Otherwise you would not be. This is my basic teaching to you. Existence already accepts you. You do not have to earn it, you are already worthy. Relax, enjoy the way nature has made you.” — 6 likes
“Compare, go on comparing yourself with everybody else you pass by, and a great jealousy will be the outcome. It is the by-product of the conditioning for comparison. Otherwise, if you drop comparing, jealousy disappears. Then you simply know you are you, and you are nobody else, and there is no need.” — 6 likes
