When this book came out, a friend called me 'Brandon Bays does what you do with Shen Therapy, only she uses a different technique. Would you please read the book and do the Journey with me?' I did as she asked.
There are several things that make this book stand out. One is that it's not the usual sell for the next product, as is so common in this genre, but the scripts are included at the end of the book. For anyone trained in emotional release work, hypnotherapy, regressions or NLP it was easy p..more
First of all, if you're reading my review, you should know I'm a pretty skeptical and cynical person, and an atheist. However, I was very open to reading this book when a friend recommended it to me after doing the Journey with her therapist.
It starts with Brandon's story of self-healing, which sounds a lot lighter than it probably was. Then, she starts successfully applying it to other people and expanding the method. In the last few pages of the book you will find the scripts for both the Emot..more

This book was lent to me by a friend and it is indeed a remarkable story of how we can do a lot to heal ourselves through our own minds. I am however a little unsure of how this would work for the average person in the street. I think that personally I would not be able to get into my inner self in the way described and I am sure that I would never have enough self belief to take the risk and try self healing. Brandon Bays had been very involved for some time in healthy living and personal devel..more

The author of this book had a large non malignant ovarian tumour. She takes the reader on her own journey, using a healthy lifestyle and alternative therapy and successfully healed herself without surgery. Shen then went on to help others cure themselves of a wide range of ailments. the writer claims past trauma can affect our health on a physical level and we need to uncover those events and deal with them. I have followed the exercises and used them. It employs a form of self hypnosis, which s..more

This is a non-fiction book about self-healing and awareness. The author healed herself of a basketball sized tumour in her stomach, and then went on to help thousands of people 'heal' themselves of physical and emotional damage, taking each of them on their own 'journey'.
I found each of the personal stories extremely inspiring and moving, and it reaffirmed my belief that unresolved emotions can manifest themselves in a physical illness or ailment in the body. It also reaffirmed my belief that in..more
I picked this book up at the airport in New Zealand-- apparently it's been more popular there, Australia, and the UK. I really enjoyed this book. I felt it was very fresh and unique compared to others I've read. Those so many out there that have simply said 'Your thoughts create your outcome.' And this author takes it a big step beyond that. She teaches how we unconsciously hold on to past negative emotions in our body and steps on how to release them in order to be healthy again -- mentally, ph..more
I was very much curious about this phenomenon. I read the book and now I'm even more interested in this subject. I'm even thinking about joining a journey weekend, because I need to experience it myself to know what it is.

This book is okay. I definitely think the stories were drawn out and could have been explained with less words. Definitely too long and over-indulgent. The whole book is written with a tone of conviction however. The author is very adamant about her journey to self-healing and what worked for her has been practiced on others and has worked for them as well. For some reason, I ran out of patience. Probably because of the repetitive stories and the 'amazingness' she exudes when trying to over-conv..more
I thought this one was pretty good. A bit of easy reading and a bit too salesy, without any recognition that maybe this won't work for every single person on the planet, regardless of their frame of mind.
Still, some new concepts and worth reading.

Recommends it for: those interested in self-healing or studies having to do with cell memories or repressed emotions
Very intriguing/motivating, I read this just as I was signing on to begin the workshops that led me to pursue the journey practitioner's program.
The book is OK. I'm not sure whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. Some of the stories in it are really motivational -and by that I mostly refer to the ones that made me more aware of the power of being open to yourself and able to admit that there may be something wrong with you (or within you) and that it can be fixed if you allow yourself to stop hiding the problem under the carpet and actually face it. I also like that idea of having (or litterally making) the courage to drop yourself into the b..more

A very important book and I find it a very precious book. In fact this book has the same basis as what Gautama Buddha went through when he reached enlightenment. That is going deep in oneself and jump into the unknown and then you find pure bliss. I also find comparable thoughts by the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard who also mentioned this jump. The jump from an ethical to a religious phase. This is a jump to God or to enlightenment or to love and these 'things' were always inside us .. w..more

This was an interesting book lent to me by a colleague. I had to rush through the book. I appreciated her own story but felt that the Journey work could have been spelled out in greater detail. I think it is meant to be a way to lure readers into signing up for the various workshops offered. I would have liked to see more of a biography and then a separate book going into more detail - although perhaps her subsequent books serve this purpose.
I can see how one might cling to the ideas presented in this book like a life raft. There might be some useful ideas here and there, but they are hidden between the superwoman saga of La Brandon and the so called inspiring stories of the thousands that were healed. Too much marketing, too little content. For the less sceptic and jaded it might be wholesome though. One can always give it a try..
I read the book in a short time and was amazed at how this woman healed herself using the therapy in the book. My mother kindly paid for us to attend a Brandon bay the journey weekend. To say it was life changing was an understatement. I was mesmerized by this lady and have a lot to thank her for

A very interesting book. Brandon Bays has an amazing personal testimony of healing. For the most part, I enjoyed this book.
The experiences she has gone through are nothing short of amazing.
So, why did I only give her book 3 stars? I find her terminology confusing. At some points in the book she sounds like a Christian, thanking God (unless his is just the 'thank God' type of expression). But her processes are extremely New Age, referring to The Source, and Infinite Intelligence.

When I got the opportunity to read the first four chapters, I couldn't expect anything. In truth, I thought she just writes about how to live, although the title was too different. So when I first read the phrase in the first chapter, my heart immediately stopped. I couldn't read on for several minutes and you know why? Because there was this sentence: 'Some part of me knew that there is something inside of me seriously ill and that I finally got to go to the doctors to find out what it is. ' An..more
recommended by my therapist, this author is certainly trying to sell you on her seminars and products despite lip service to the contrary. I disagree with her assertion that grief, when managed honestly, can be gotten over in 5-7 days..yikes. But this is her story and she can make whatever assertions she would like. Her methods are useful and even when used in pieces and not part of a two-hour 'journeywork session' I found them helpful. Fireside chats with people from my past, searching to name..more

'Once heard a story that each of us comes into this life as a pristine, pure, flawless diamond. And, through the trials of growing up and the course of life's pains, our innate brilliance becomes hidden by a load of rubbish.
Then when we become adults, we cover the whole mess with a coat of bright, shiny nail varnish. We present this artificial veneer to the world and wonder why no one seems to think it's that extraordinary. Over time, we may even come to believe that this protective shell is who..more

The author's own story of healing drives this book from the start, and other anecdotes keep it moving right to the end. The so-called 'miracles' that people can perform for their own healing are inspirational, to say the least, and raise the question 'why them, and not others?' This book does more than tell stories though: it answers that question, and moreover, explains how any of us can heal our own lives, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I really liked this book, I liked Brandon's honest straight forward writing and her belief in what she is doing.
I liked hearing her story (tumour, career, fire, personal life) but there were times the book dragged on with the other peoples 'Journey' stories. I get that they were a big part of explaining her work but when I start skipping paragraphs I know I've got what I needed out of the book.
Saying that.. She is amazing, her story should be told everywhere.
A good friend of mine recommended this book and found it very inspiring. I've enjoyed some of the writings of Deepak Chopra and Tony Robbins (NLP), both of whom are very influencial figures in Bays life. I did my best to read this one with an open mind. I believe Brandon is sincere and has some good things to say, however, in the final analysis draws dramatic conclusions from a daunting dearth of data.

In my opinion this was a very different kind of self-help book. What I found most interesting was that the author had dedicated her life to alternative healing modalities and then became very ill anyway. It was through this illness that she was able to discover 'The Journey' - a very simple emotional healing technique which translates into physical healing at a cellular level. I admit to being sceptical and if the opportunity arises I will attend one of her workshops to see for myself.
