Costco Management Training Program
They tell you that Costco is a company that values its own hard-won experience over trendy B-school subjects like management theory and Econ 101. A few years ago I had occasion to ask Truman Bewley whether he was training students at Yale to carry on research like that he did on wages.

I'm a Front End sup in the SD2 region and just completed a two week training program that involved a day in a fresh department (bakery), three days in morning merch running a section, two days in RTV, one day with Sales Audit, one day in membership and inclusion in the weekly staff meeting and floor walks. It culminated in a meeting with the regional manager as well as a few guys from warehouse operations with information on the new ACE register system and refund audit procedures.
Anyway, I was wondering if any other regions are training their supervisors like this. I found it extremely informative and feel I have a greater understanding of how the desicions we make daily on the front end impact other departments.
Any others with this experience?
